Build Responsibly. Trees used to be considered an unlimited resource, until we cut them all down. Many species are no longer commercially available including one of the finest furniture woods ever, Cuban mahogany. At CWW we do our best to use local and responsibly harvested wood and to treat it as a valuable commodity. We incorporate what others consider defects, such as knots and sap wood, into our designs whenever possible. We save the scraps and use them for everything from interior bracing to the tiny pieces used to make our custom banding.
Our furniture is produced locally in small batches. By building several pieces at a time we enjoy efficiencies that one-off makers can not capitalize on. By building locally we can more closely control the quality of our final product and the impact that we have on our community and the environment. We also minimize non-value added activities such as shipping and other logistical costs.
More to come.
